At Barking Glad we groom to traditional patterns or adapt them to your requirements. Price per groom includes bathing, drying, nail trimming and ear cleaning. (We charge a nominal fee to empty anal glands, if necessary).

Grooming will also include some of the following, depending on breed: Clipping, scissoring, thinning, hand-stripping, raking or curry combing.
Clipping
Clipping does not necessarily involve leaving a coat very short, we use a variety of blades to achieve different lengths and effects.
Scissoring and Thinning
Scissoring and Thinning is used to shorten and shape skirts, feathers and aprons. We will often use scissors to shape head hair e.g. on Westies and Shih Tzus. Thinning shears are used to reduce bulk, or to blend where short and long hair meet
Hand-stripping
Hand-stripping is the process which removes the harsh outer coat on dogs such as Border Terriers and Jack Russells. It is preferable to clipping because the coat will grow back with a better bloom and texture.
Raking
Raking removes undercoat from dogs like Collies, German Shepherd and Golden Retrievers. Clipping these dogs would remove their top coat and literally leaving them in |
